Teenager Turned Life around after Help from Active Voices

ONE of the teenagers who has turned her life around thanks to Manchester Active Voices spoke to the M.E.N. about her experiences.

She spoke frankly about how her life was spiralling out of control at the age of 14.

Now, at 17, she is on the cusp of becoming an independent young woman.

"At home things were not going to well. As the oldest child I had the responsibility of having to help look after the kids - and there were nine of us.

"I was having trouble at school and couldn't control my behaviour. I was under stress at home and would lash out in the classroom and get sent outside.

"I was fighting with other kids as well at school which did not help my situation. I would go missing.

"I had a lot of responsibility to help out because my dad was always at work and had to help my stepmother. …
