MANCHESTER was just one of the stops on Kevin Cadle's journey through British basketball.

The Buffalo native, who became one of the best-known and loved faces of the sport in the UK in the 1980s and 90s, has passed away aged 62.

He won numerous titles in his time as a BBL coach with Kingston, Glasgow, Guildford and London Towers.

And he led Manchester Giants in 1985/86 during their brief cross-city rivalry with Manchester United.

Giants stalwarts Jeff Jones and Mike Bernard have added Mancunian tributes to the many paid to Cadle, who went on to become a popular NFL broadcaster with Sky Sports.

Jones, who played for and coached the Giants, said: "He was a great coach and a great guy. I went up against him as a player and a coach and he was part of Manchester basketball at a very exciting time. …
