Rom's Kind Words Are Boost to Gaffe Goalie

ROMELU Lukaku told Benfica goalkeeper Mile Svilar 'not to worry' and to 'continue to work and it will be OK' following his costly mistake in United's 1-0 win on Wednesday night.

The 18-year-old, who became the youngest goalkeeper to play in the Champions League, was caught off his line by Marcus Rashford's looping free-kick after the hour mark.

Svilar, back-pedalling, caught the ball but it had already crossed the line as he claimed it - handing United the breakthrough at the Estadio da Luz.

The Belgian, who had looked shaky under the high ball all night and was particularly vulnerable from set-pieces and crosses, held his hands up to Benfica's fans at the final whistle as he fought back the tears.

Lukaku, Chris Smalling, Ander Herrera, David de Gea and goalkeeping guru Silvino Louro all consoled the youngster, but it was fellow Belgian Lukaku who made the biggest impression comforting him. …
