Quebec eatery tops Canada's Best New Restaurants list

TORONTO - A 20-seat Italian diner in Quebec City has taken the top spot on the Canada's Best New Restaurants list.

Battuto is this year's highlight on the list compiled by Air Canada's enRoute magazine.

Battuto is described as a 400-square-foot trattoria where chef Guillaume St-Pierre's dishes include paper-thin rounds of Charlevoix-pork lonza and grilled octopus.

Similarly small, chef-run spots nabbed second and third place -- Canis in Toronto and Bar Von Der Fels in Calgary, respectively.

Edmonton scored three restaurants on the list: Clementine, Cafe Linnea and Alder Room.

The list was curated by enRoute's restaurant critic Andrew Braithwaite, who dined in more than 30 new restaurants in his search for the 10 best. …
