'Cowardly' Thugs Speed off after Street Attack

THUGS wolf-whistled at two men before subjecting them to a vicious unprovoked attack.

The two men, aged 21 and 32, ended up in hospital after being beaten up in Ashton-under-Lyne.

The pair were walking with friends along Wellington Road when they heard wolf-whistling coming from a parked car behind them.

When they turned around two men ran at them - before launching themselves at the them and hitting them repeatedly.

The attackers then ran back to their car and drove away.

It's understood the victims had just enjoyed a night out with friends at nearby Ashton Leisure Park when the incident happened just before midnight on Wednesday.

Both men suffered minor injuries and later went to hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable Jo Lockett of GMP's Tameside Borough, described the attackers as 'cowardly' saying: "These men were with their friends, minding their own business, when they were brutally attacked by these two offenders. …
