RUTHERFORD - An East Rutherford man was arrested after a Rutherford resident chased him down after witnessing the suspect enter his vehicle.

The victim called police while he was chasing the suspect, who was later identified as Mario Macri, 33, of East Rutherford.

The victim's car, a 2017 Ford Explorer, was parked on West Erie Avenue near Jackson Avenue on July 1 at 11 p.m. when the owner saw a man enter the car.

The victim chased him until Macri allegedly hit the victim resulting in injuries.

Rutherford Officers Frank Inglese, Brian Caughey and Scott Ahearn responded to a wooded area along West Erie Avenue where Macri was last seen with his pit bull dog.

Macri saw police and then fled north toward Willow Wood Court in East Rutherford. …
