Friends Remember Londono as 'Angel'

Friends and family of Jennifer Londono, the woman whose recent killing made headlines after her torso washed up in a Brooklyn harbor, gathered Saturday evening to honor her memory and find solace in the belief that she was called to a better place for the good that she had done in her shortened life.

"It's devastating, but I know her soul is in heaven," said Londono's friend Marta Getachew, after a Mass in the Londono's memory at St. Cecilia's Church in Englewood.

Londono, who lived in Edgewater at the time of her death, managed the Luna Lounge in Englewood. Getachew remembered Londono as a hardworker, who focused on her goals and her dreams, saying Londono had worked in her boutique shoe store before opening Luna Lounge.

"She was a breath of fresh air, every time you saw her," Getachew said. "That's how happy she is."

After she had been missing for two days, Londono's dismembered body washed up in Red Hook Brooklyn on June 27. Police then retrieved her leg from the Hudson River three days later. …
