Suspicious Packages Found on Fair Lawn's Rosalie Street

FAIR LAWN -- The Bergen County Sheriff's Department on Saturday was investigating suspicious packages, later determined to contain candles, placed at 10 intersections along Rosalie Street.

A resident walking along the residential street discovered the packages, described as plastic bags containing baby food jars with unknown items inside, around 7:40 a.m., according to Fair Lawn Lt. Eric Leitman. They appeared to have been "strategically placed" in the middle of intersections on Rosalie Street from Banta Place to 34th Street.

"The items were concerning enough to call the bomb squad," said Leitman.

Fair Lawn police, in a press release, said the packages consisted of plastic shopping bags of various colors, each containing a clear glass baby food jar with a single black item that officers initially thought to be M-80 firecrackers. …
