Man Slashed Holding Child in Custody Fight, Cops Say

Police say a man was slashed with a box cutter while holding a 1-year-old child during a custody fight in South Hackensack on Sunday afternoon.

The fight among five people, including a 17-year-old, broke out in the Knights Inn parking lot and spilled out onto Route 46, stopping traffic, according to South Hackensack police Capt. Robert Kaiser. The child was not injured.

The melee was caught on video by witnesses as a woman, Asia Anderson, 23, of Hackensack, and three members of her family allegedly got into a physical altercation with Davun Hill, 20, of Hackensack. According to Kaiser, Hill wanted rights to see the child for the day, but Anderson refused.

The fight became physical when Anderson allegedly slashed Hill -- while he was holding the child -- across the back with a box cutter. Anderson's three brothers allegedly began to assault Hill after that. …
