Woman Sues Wal-Mart over Falling Soup Cans

TETERBORO - A Mahwah mother is suing Wal-Mart Stores Inc. after soup cans allegedly fell from the shelves at the Teterboro store and hit her 8-year-old son, causing injuries.

A lawsuit was filed on March 22 in Bergen County Superior Court by the Clifton-based law firm Silverman and Roedel, LLC.

The mother claims the store improperly stacked soup cans, which presented a hazard on May 5, 2016. The boy was struck by three soup cans that fell from a height of about 6 feet at the store, at 1 Teterboro Landing Drive.

Her son suffered lacerations on the bridge of his nose that were repaired with medical glue. Since the accident he has been suffering from headaches, according to the family's attorney David Silverman.

The lawsuit says he sustained "severe and permanent injuries. …
