Hillsdale Mayor Spot to Be Filled in Nov

HILLSDALE -- Registered Hillsdale voters will get to choose a new mayor in the Nov. 7 general election, two years ahead of schedule.

Voters elected Republican Mayor Douglas Frank in 2015 for a four-year term, but he plans to walk away from the helm Aug. 31 due to health reasons, he announced at a Borough Council meeting last week.

Hillsdale's Republican municipal committee has 15 days from Sept. 1 to send the council three nominations to replace the mayor until voters elect someone in November, Borough Clerk Denise Kohan said on Tuesday. The council would then have another 15 days to select one of the three nominations, she said.

Anyone who wants to run in November for Frank's unexpired term, which would run through Dec. 31, 2019, must submit to the clerk a form certified by the Republican committee by Sept. …
