(NS-Anti-Fat-Reprimand)

A Nova Scotia doctor who described his treatments as capable of melting fat has been reprimanded by the province's medical regulator.

A decision from the College of Physicians and Surgeons also cites Doctor Christian Hackshaw for not always informing his patients' family physicians of what treatment he offered.

A report from the college's investigation committee says Hackshaw has been reprimanded for misrepresenting his skills and treatment.

The website for his Advance M-D clinic in Halifax describes the facility as an "anti-aging clinic" and medical fitness centre. (The Canadian Press)

(NB-Cannabis)

New Brunswick's plans for selling legalized recreational marijuana include offering home delivery and having sommelier-like staff to help customers select their weed.

The province says legal marijuana will be sold by a subsidiary of its liquor commission, with the stores being tightly controlled.

N-B Liquor president Brian Harriman says no one under the legal age will be allowed inside the stores, and the product will be displayed under glass cases.

He says staff at the stores will be highly trained, with a lot of product knowledge so they can educate and help people who want to learn about cannabis before buying it. (The Canadian Press)

(NL-Forest-Fires)

Newfoundland and Labrador says there were fewer forest fires in the province this year.

The province says statistics show the number of fire starts and the area burned in 2017 are down significantly when compared to the 10-year average.

There were 73 fires that burned a total of 699 hectares so far this year.

That's well below the provincial 10-year average of 116 fires and 35-thousand 324 hectares burned. (The Canadian Press)
