Prison Staff Have Cars Vandalised by Yob Gang

THREE hooded men threw paint stripper on prison officers' cars during a wrecking spree outside Strangeways.

The targeted attack took place in the staff car park outside HMP Manchester.

The gang smashed the windows of six cars and then threw paint stripper on them, causing damage estimated at £5,000.

The trio fled from the car park off Southall Street when a police patrol responding to reports of vandalism saw them.

They jumped over railings, pursued by police officers, leaving behind two tins of paint stripper at the scene.

Police are now appealing to the public for any information about the attack at around 9pm on Wednesday, October 11.

Officers are seeking two men. One man has been charged.

Det Insp Kirsty Simcox, of GMP's Challenger Manchester team which tackles organised crime, said: "This was a cruel and incredibly damaging attack where the offenders clearly targeted the owners of the cars for their role. …
