CLIFFSIDE PARK — A decision on the teacher who told her students to stop speaking Spanish and to "speak American" will come within a week, the district superintendent said Wednesday night.

At the first Board of Education meeting since the outburst was put online by students, and after a student walkout in protest of the teacher, a district parent asked whether there had been any resolution to the issue.

"The immigrant community in this town is large, and we are appalled. We are beyond upset about it," said Fabricio Dominguez, who has a niece at the high school and two children in elementary school.

Michael Romagnino, the schools superintendent, said he would not discuss the incident because it was a personnel matter, but he added that the board is close to completing a full investigation. …
