Weinstein's 'The Upside' Pulled from St. Louis International Film Festival

"The Upside," a comedy co-starring Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston, has been pulled from the St. Louis International Film Festival lineup.

The film was produced by the Weinstein Co., whose co-founder Harvey Weinstein faces serious allegations of sexual misconduct. Weinstein, the subject of high-profile articles in the New York Times and the New Yorker, was fired from the company Oct. 8.

Cliff Froehlich, executive director of festival presenter Cinema St. Louis, said that the Weinstein Co. withdrew the film after the festival proposed that it be screened in conjunction with a panel about sexual violence against women.

"We felt that we had to acknowledge what's going on with Harvey Weinstein in some fashion," Froehlich said. "That it was important to address the elephant in the room when it came to the issue of Weinstein's behavior. …
