CITY are hopeful of closing a deal for Jonny Evans before the transfer window closes tomorrow - but face late competition from Leicester and Arsenal.

The West Brom captain is one of two priorities for Pep Guardiola in the remaining days of the transfer window as he aims to bring in cover in defence as well as Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.

City have already had at least one bid of £18m rejected for the former United defender but are expected to go back with an increased offer in the next day.

And the Blues aren't the only club to be rebuffed by West Brom, who have turned down £10m and £23m offers from Leicester.

The Baggies have indicated the higher figure remains substantially below their valuation, which is believed to be around £30m.

And with just one day to go until the window closes, Arsenal have emerged as potential late competitors for the Northern Ireland international. …
