EDMONTON. x-12s. Alberta's child and youth advocate has issued new reports into two separate teen suicides. In once case, a 15-year-old boy took his life while he was homeless and being denied help by Child Intervention Services. Child and Youth Advocate Del Graff says social workers thought the boy had a choice to stay with relatives but was unwilling, and rejected his request for support

TAG: The other case involved a 17-year-old boy who took his own life in a group home after being denied a telephone call with his mother. Graff says the Alberta government should place greater emphasis on the importance of ensuring kids in care are able to maintain connections with their family.
