TODAY (FRIDAY 3) Theatre / Uncle Vanya From the ¡Viva! Spanish and Latin American festival to their recent Hong Kong cinema season, it's been a hugely internationalflavoured year for Manchester arts institution HOME.

Continuing this cosmopolitan theme, HOME's latest endeavour is entitled A Revolution Betrayed? - a season of theatre, visual art and film, inspired by the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution.

For theatre goers, the undoubted centrepiece of the season is director Walter Meierjohann's revival of the Chekhov classic Uncle Vanya. Tracking the intertwined lives of a family living a provincial Russian life, the play's plot is simple, but the emotional nuances are complex.
