(US-Bike-Path-Attack) (Audio: 83)

U-S President Donald Trump is using the tragedy of a terrorist attack that killed eight people on a New York City bike path to launch a fresh attack on immigration policies.

Trump says he will consider sending the suspect, an Uzbek immigrant who entered the U-S legally, to the prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

During a news conference, Trump called the suspect an animal and vowed to ask Congress to immediately begin work to terminate the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program. (11)

The death toll in a catastrophic highway crash north of Toronto last night has climbed to three.

Ontario Provincial Police say the 14-vehicle pileup involved at least two fuel tankers and triggered a massive fireball on Highway 400 south of Barrie.

The wall of flames sent motorists running for their lives.

Officers are continuing to comb through the wreckage in search of more possible victims -- a grim job they say is proving difficult given the extent of the damage.

Police say the highway may need to be repaired before it can reopen. (11)

The interim report from the national Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls urges the federal

government to work with the provinces and territories to create a national police task force.

It says that would allow the inquiry to give families and survivors another avenue if they have questions or concerns about cases or investigations.

Chief Commissioner Marion Buller says violence against Indigenous women and girls has somehow become normalized, and that is a national tragedy. …
