MANCHESTER'S Christmas Markets have become an iconic addition to the city at the festive time of year.

Hundreds of stalls are set up around Albert Square providing a diverse array of goods to buy.

You can find everything from gifts, toys, jewellery, food and beer to the more traditional mulled wine (or 'Gluhwein') and roasted chestnuts.

The Markets attract visitors from all over the country and are hugely popular. They're a must visit attraction that never fails to disappoint.

The markets are centred around Albert Square with further stalls situated throughout the city centre.

The markets embrace European culture highlighting the diversity of the city. The German influence is apparent not least because of the famous Bratwurst sausage, not to be missed when visiting the markets.

Manchester began hosting Christmas market stalls in 1999 when there were just 15 stalls operating. …
