LUKE Burgess is set for a return to Salford for the 2018 Super League season, according to reports in Australia.

The eldest of the four Burgess brothers - who were part of South Sydney's NRL premiership winning side in 2014 - joined the Red Devils on a short-term deal to the end of the 2016 season and helped the club narrowly avoid relegation to the Championship.

He joined the Catalans Dragons on a two-year deal ahead of the 2017 campaign, but suffered a season-ending knee injury back in April. According to reports, Burgess is now set to return to the AJ Bell Stadium after rekindling his relationship with the mother of his young daughter.

"We've been working things out over the past few months," said the 30-year-old prop. "We spent some time apart. I was living in France for the past 10 months and Yolanda stayed in Australia, and that might have done us a bit of good, so now we can have a new experience in England. …
