NORMANDY > New law puts limits on pet owners * The Normandy City Council voted Tuesday night to limit how many pets residents can have.

REVISEDThe measure limits a resident to three dogs or a combination of four dogs and cats. In addition, residents can have up to four hamsters or up to two other rodents.

Larger litters of animals can be kept until the age of 4 months without owners' being in violation. Any resident whose ownership of pets exceeded the limits before the enactement of the measure will be allowed to keep them.

Otherwise, people who build larger pet menageries could face fines.

The law prohibits sheep, goats, hogs and exotic animals. It allows caged birds. Pit bulls, related species and chickens are already prohibited under other city codes. …
