NAT056 - (Remembrance-Day) (FOR PRODUCTION) OTTAWA. x-49s. Hundreds gathered at the National War Memorial in Ottawa today to remember those currently serving in the Canadian Armed Forces, and those soldiers who have fallen in past conflicts. Wearing her Royal Canadian Air Force uniform, Governor-General Julie Payette laid a wreath in her first Remembrance Day service since becoming Canada's commander-in-chief. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau did not attend the service, although his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau laid a wreath on his behalf. Trudeau is in Vietnam for the A-PEC leaders' summit, where he marked Remembrance Day by reciting a poem and singing the national anthem alongside Canadian military personnel.
