The U.S. Attorney's Office in Kansas will handle whatever charges would be filed in the robbery Wednesday afternoon of a southeast Topeka credit union, an FBI spokeswoman said.

The robbery of Azura Credit Union, 3623 S.E. 29th, occurred about 4 p.m. Wednesday, said Lt. Colleen Stuart, Topeka police spokeswoman.

The name of the man taken into custody and the offenses he was booked on weren't being released Wednesday night.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the credit union, FBI spokeswoman Bridgett Patton said. The suspect threatened that he was armed with a weapon but didn't display one, Patton said.

Topeka police spotted and tried to stop the car tied to the robbery reported minutes earlier Wednesday, starting a pursuit that eventually ended in East Topeka. …
