Five Arrested in Drugs Raids before Dawn

FIVE men have been arrested for drugs offences during a series of dawn raids across south Manchester.

Officers carried out search warrants in eight addresses across Moss Side and Hulme on Thursday morning.

Five men, aged 19, 31, 38, 46 and 54, were arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs.

The 19-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.

All of the men remain in custody for questioning.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were carrying out the raids as part of an operation targeting the supply of drugs in south Manchester, named Operation Malham.

There were further raids which took place last week, with a total of 14 properties searched and eight men arrested as part of the operation.

Det Chief Insp Paul Walker, of GMP's City of Manchester team, said: "We are dedicated to rooting out those who seek to make profits from putting drugs on our streets. …
