Indoor Farmers' Market to Open

WALDWICK – An indoor farmers' market is slated to open early next year in a former Stop & Shop, bringing new life to a small shopping center whose flagship store has been closed for the better part of 2017.

The Waldwick Farmers Market was approved by the borough Planning Board earlier this month and will be operated by the same company that owns the Oakland Giant Farmers Market. Ben Cascio, an attorney for the applicant, said the owners hope to open the Wyckoff Avenue store on Jan. 1, or shortly thereafter, once renovations are complete.

Mayor Tom Giordano said he's very happy that the market is coming to the borough.

"The residents of Waldwick need a store that they can shop in, and the farmers' market is a great fit," he said. "We welcome them to Waldwick and wish them much success."

According to the Oakland Giant Farmers Market's website, the store is a locally owned full-service market offering "only the finest and freshest fruits and vegetables, poultry, dairy, fish, meat and deli products" to customers. …
