A PAIR of chickens that were feeling chilly are all wrapped up warm now thanks to the efforts of a group of knitters.

The feathery twosome are ex-battery hens that were rescued by the charity Lucky Hens and re-homed at Reddish Vale Farm in Stockport.

The farm took in eight altogether, but one sadly passed away shortly after being rescued, and two more were struggling.

Due to the cramped, indoor conditions they had been kept in the chickens, who have not yet been named, are missing many of their feathers.

Caroline Hulme, who runs the farm at Reddish Vale High School, said: "When we collected them a couple were in quite a sorry state. They lived in such cramped conditions that they are a bit scared to go outside as they're not used to it. …
