he world of rock and roll last month said goodbye to one of its originals when Tom Petty died aged 66 following a heart attack.

TA prolific songwriter, the down-to-earth musician sold more than 80 million records and had multiple hit albums and singles including I Won't Back Down and Free Fallin'. Tom enjoyed success both as a solo artist and with his band The Heartbreakers.

He also played in the late George Harrison's 1980s supergroup the Traveling Wilburys alongside fellow members Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne.

But Tom liked to escape the roar of the crowd. And for that purpose, he bought a house overlooking Lake Sherwood near Malibu in California, nine miles from the Pacific Ocean. Almost every room in the property enjoys superb views.

The house, built in 1931 and enlarged by Petty in 2004, only has three bedrooms but has a huge footprint at 5,300 sq ft. …
