OPENING this evening, The Patron is the newest food and drink joint opening on the Northern Quarter's bustling Stevenson Square.

Set inside the Hilton Chambers building - part of a huge regeneration project by Hatter's Hostel - The Patron will offer a grown-up range of globallyinspired food and local craft beers. The airy space has huge floor-toceiling windows, parquet flooring and a large bar serving a range of cocktails, beers and wines.

Cocktails include the Magnesia (£7), made with Tovarich vodka, Wild Beer Millionaire Stout, and a coffee and caramel reduction; the Vine and Rhine (£8.50), made with Ferdinand's Saar Gin, sherry and a pickled grape; and Greeko Americano (£6.50) made with Otto's rose vermouth, Contratto bitter and mastika water.

Outside, the venue boasts a secluded courtyard for some al fresco boozing, sheltered by colourful umbrellas suspended in the air.

The food menu is led by ex-Hawksmoor chef Romin Farahini, and is compiled of a mixture of British, Middle Eastern and Persian-inspired dishes. …
