No End of Road in Sight for Night Delays on M60

DRIVERS can expect closures on the M60 - every single night - for the rest of this month as highways bosses try to finish work on the Smart Motorway.

Motorists have been coping with disruption on the M60 and M62 ever since the upgrade began three years ago.

It has resulted in a 50mph speed limit on some stretches - as well as night time closures.

And although Highways England bosses insist that the scheme is now in the final furlong, there will be no progress without pain.

A new list of closures for December have still to be released by Highway England. However the overnight closure nights in November, from 10pm to 6am, have been confirmed.

Here is a list of the closures: Tonight (Fri, November 24): M60 Jct 12 to Jct 8 Anti-Clockwise Tomorrow (Sat, November 25): M60 Jct 8 to Jct 12 Clockwise Sun, November 26: M60 Jct 15 to Jct 12 Anti-Clockwise Mon, November 27: M60 Jct 12 to Jct 8 Anti-Clockwise Tue, November 28: M60 Jct 12 to Jct 15 Clockwise Wed, November 29: M60 Jct 12 to Jct 8 Anti-Clockwise Thur, November 30: M60 Jct 12 to Jct 8 Anti-Clockwise Fri, December 1: M60 Jct 12 to Jct 8 Anti-Clockwise Some drivers have complained about the closures and questioned whether they are necessary.

Worsley and Eccles South MP Barbara Keeley is among those who has criticised highways chiefs for allowing night-time working on the M60 and M62 projects.

The much-50mph limit place on some of road Charlotte As reported by the M.E.N. in September, the works have also been delayed, meaning the muchmaligned 50mph limit will be in place on some stretches of road until next summer.

For motorists who have already put up with the works for more than three years, it means more of the same.

While the M62 works between junctions 18 and 20 - Simister Island to Rochdale - were supposed to be completed by this autumn, that deadline's shifted to December - with three extra months of the 50mph limit. …
