Carpenter, Rolen, Isringhausen Make Debuts on Hall of Fame Ballot

ST. LOUIS * Power-hitter Jim Thome and former MVP Chipper Jones headline the list of 19 newcomers to the National Baseball Hall of Fame ballot that will reach voters in the coming week. A handful of former Cardinals, including Cy Young Award winner Chris Carpenter, also dot the ballot for the first time.

The new ballot, which is due by the end of the year, includes Scott Rolen, Jamie Moyer and Cardinals all-time saves leader Jason Isringhausen in addition to Carpenter all for the first time.

Larry Walker remains on the ballot.

In the press release revealing the ballot, the Hall notes Rolen's rsum, which includes a National League Rookie of the Year award (1997), seven All-Star selections, eight Gold Glove awards at third base and a .421 average for the Cardinals during the 2006 World Series championship. Carpenter won the Cy Young Award in 2005 and was a part of the team's championships in 2006 and 2011. He went 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA in four World Series starts. …
