New Sixth-Form Gets Top Marks in Ofsted Report

A NEW inner-city sixth-form has been rated as outstanding by inspectors - just a year after opening.

Ofsted inspectors described Trinity Sixth-Form, in Hulme, as 'excellent in engaging students.' The facility, which accommodates around 120 students, opened at a new building on Cambridge Street in September 2016.

Students have not yet taken A-levels but provisional results for year 12 show they are on track to do well, particularly in RE and biology.

Headteacher Julian Nicholls said he was 'absolutely delighted' with the result, adding: "It is full of positive statements about our students and staff and how they work together."

Mr Nicholls, who had been in post just a month when Ofsted inspectors visited, said support from parents has given the sixth-form a flying start.

He said: "One of the strong things about Trinity relates to its foundations, which are about including everyone and making everyone feel welcome. …
