FORMER United youngster John Cofie has been handed the chance to resurrect his career at Derry City after completing a move to the League of Ireland side.

The Ghana-born forward was rated as one of the country's hottest prospects as a teenager and the Reds paid Burnley a whopping £1m for the 14-year-old back in 2007.

Cofie went on to sign professional terms with the club and was a member of the famous FA Youth Cup-winning side of 2011 alongside Sam Johnstone, Michael Keane, Ravel Morrison, Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba.

The youngster was particularly close to Lingard and Pogba and regularly visited Nando's with the pair when they were team-mates. The trio were even reunited at the Portuguesethemed restaurant shortly after Pogba completed his then world-record return to the Reds last year. …
