Shake Shack Will Open Dec. 11 in Central West End

Shake Shack, the immensely popular burger-'n'-shake restaurant chain, has locations in Moscow, Tokyo, Dubai and more.

On Dec. 11, it is coming home to St. Louis.

The chain's founder, Danny Meyer, grew up in St. Louis (John Burroughs School) before moving to New York to open the iconic Union Square Caf and later to take over the Michelin-starred Gramercy Tavern.

In 2004, he opened the first Shake Shack in New York's Madison Square Park. With a menu featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, fried-chicken sandwiches, french fries, milk shakes and frozen custard (he's from St. Louis, after all), the chain grew quickly. It now has more than 130 locations around the world, many of them in airports, shopping malls and even sports stadiums.

St. Louis' first Shake Shack will be at 32 North Euclid Avenue, in the Central West End. …
