FERNIE. x-08s. There's still no word when the only indoor ice arena in Fernie B-C could reopen following the October 17th ammonia leak that killed three men, including a resident of the Calgary area. Fernie Lions Club member Chuck Shoesmith says the lack of ice for local teams has been challenging -- leaving the community feeling "lost and helpless." But Shoesmith says the Calgary Flames Foundation -- the charitable arm of the N-H-L Calgary Flames -- has donated an outdoor skating rink package that should get teams back on home ice. Shoesmith says work on the outdoor arena is already underway and the new rink will have a familiar look.
