Kudos to Stanley Sturgill, a retired coal miner who testified at the Environmental Protection Agency's hearing on the Clean Power Plan in Charleston, W.Va. (Nov. 29, "EPA Hears Concerns About Climate from People in the Heart of Coal Country"). Mr. Sturgill's testimony must have been difficult to deliver in the heart of coal country in a room filled with coal miners and industry executives. It was a cautionary message about the future: Climate change is real. Burning fossil fuels hurts future generations. Uphold the Clean Power Plan for the benefit of our grandchildren and their children.

The logic of the coal industry seems to be this: Allow the industry to continue to pollute. Kill the regulatory overreach of the Clean Power Plan or coal will die and miners will lose their jobs. …
