Holton Man Arrested in Standoff

An exchange of gunfire between law enforcement and a man in a house in Holton was followed early Monday by a roughly three-hour standoff, which ended with the man's arrest, said Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse.

No one was hurt, he said.

The man was identified Monday evening as Patrick Wayne Miller, 31, of Holton.

Morse said Holton police and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office responded about 11:48 p.m. Sunday to a report of a domestic disturbance at 802 Ohio in Holton, where authorities arrested an armed woman who had been involved in the dispute.

A man in the house allegedly fired multiple rounds at law enforcement officers. Gunfire struck a sheriff's office K-9 vehicle containing the woman and a deputy, and a Holton police officer returned fire, but no one was hit. The deputy and the woman were rescued and taken to a safe location, Morse said. …
