A MAN is on a mission to spread festive cheer by leaving messages of hope around the city at random to inspire strangers.

Last Christmas, Alex Walton handed out 100 envelopes containing a positive message of hope in his home town of Norwich.

He had such an incredible response that this December, he and a team of volunteers will be handing out hundreds more envelopes up and down the country, but with a special focus on Manchester.

Alex was inspired to choose the city after everything it has gone through after the Arena bombing.

Each envelope contains a short story and a gift that acts as a symbol of compassion and hope.

Alex said: "The response last year was beyond anything I could ever have hoped, the story and gift had a profound impact on people and provided them with a lasting, positive experience.

"After what's happened this year, I would love for the people of Manchester to help in spreading this positive message across this city. …
