Man Arrested in Connection with Sunday Shooting

A 43-year-old man was behind bars on Thursday in connection with a weekend shooting in East Topeka.

The arrested man was identified as Donald Cornelius Dugan, of Topeka.

According to Topeka police Capt. Bryan Wheeles, officers around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday followed up on a citizen tip related to a shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon in the 1800 block of S.E. 10th.

During their investigation on Wednesday, officers located Dugan, a suspect in the shooting, at a residence in the 700 block of S.W. Buchanan.

Wheeles said Dugan was taken into custody without incident. He was taken to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning, then booked into the Shawnee County Jail in connection with aggravated battery.

Wheeles said Dugan has an "extensive criminal history with multiple felony convictions."

Wheeles thanked community members for their assistance in helping officers locate Dugan. …
