Mahwah, Elmwood Park Robberies May Be Related

ELMWOOD PARK — Police are searching for two suspects they believe committed a pair of early-morning armed robberies across Bergen County.

In the first robbery, reported in Mahwah around 3 a.m. Thursday, a man wearing a ski mask and flashing a silver pistol robbed an attendant of several hundred dollars at the Liberty Gas Station and Quick Stop Deli on Route 17 north, police said.

Just over an hour later, Elmwood Park police said a man — also wearing a ski mask and brandishing a silver gun — robbed a store clerk in the 7-Eleven on Market Street. The man fled with about $350 in cash and jumped into a waiting getaway car parked in the next lot, police said. Michael Foligno, the Elmwood Park police chief, said in an email that his department is working with Mahwah police to solve the crimes, which authorities believe are related. …
