Swedish Wonderkid Set to Stay at Reds

UNITED are set to make their next signing one for the future.

Swedish wonderkid Lucas Gomes was invited for a trial at Carrington in October and looks set to make the move permanent.

The 14-year-old forward is on the books of Swedish side Malmo, where Zlatan Ibrahimovic began his career.

But the club sound resigned to losing him after his recent spell in Manchester.

Malmo sporting director Mikael Brandrup told Skanesport: "Lucas was in Manchester and, unfortunately, I do not think we'll keep him.

"He moved here from Karlskrona in the autumn of 2016 to go to our sports school and, of course, he might have to wait until he left the school before moving back.

"But I understand he's impressed with United."

Gomes has only been with Malmo for a little over a year, but his performances caught the eye of United scouts and speaking ahead of his trial, the teenager was determined to make the most of his opportunity. …
