Overtime Win Gives Topeka High Fifth-Place Finish

LEAVENWORTH -- Ky Thomas had scored only a single point Saturday afternoon as the final regulation seconds ticked away on Topeka High's fifth-place game at the Citizens National Bank Invitational, but the sophomore guard was there for the Trojans when they needed him most.

Thomas made a shot at the buzzer to force overtime then hit three free throws in the extra session to help Topeka High outlast Leavenworth 61-53 and finish 2-1 in tournament play.

While Thomas played hero at the end of regulation, Larry White carried the Trojans for much of the game. The senior finished with a game-high 20 points, including 6-of-6 shooting from the foul line in overtime when Topeka High managed a 13-5 margin.

Sophomore Da'Vonshai Harden also reached double figures for the Trojans (2-2), scoring 13 points and earning a spot on the all-tournament team. …
