NAT075 - (Smartphone-Pedometer) VANCOUVER. x-22s. A new study from the University of British Columbia found that the built-in pedometer on Apple's i-Phone is underestimating user's steps. The study found that while the device is accurate in the lab, in the real world it misses about 21.5 per cent of a user's steps. The study's lead author Mark Duncan says although the iPhone pedometer falls short, it's still a valuable tool for monitoring and encouraging activity. ("..physical activity.")
