POMPTON LAKES – Light snowfall blanketed the Holiday Stroll on Saturday for what has become one of the borough's signature annual events. The weather was enough to keep some away, but for others, the snow only added to the wonder of the event.

"A little bad weather is not going to bother us," said Mayor Michael Serra.

It began with a marching parade down Wanaque Avenue in downtown Pompton Lakes. The busy street was closed off to vehicle traffic and was eerily quiet in the moments before the parade.

The parade traveled a few blocks to the library, where there were a tree lighting and musical performances. While people waited for the lighting of the trees on the library lawn, children played in the snow and started snowball fights.

For a few hours, people walked up and down the street, taking in festive surroundings and perhaps stopping into one of the businesses providing free hot chocolate. …
