Little Falls OKs Luxury Town Houses at Eatery Site

LITTLE FALLS — A long-vacant restaurant in a residential neighborhood will get a new lease on life after officials approved plans to convert the building into two town houses.

Empty since Bella Notte Alta Cuccina shuttered its doors in 2010, an attorney for the applicant, Schreck Development, said the homes will eliminate a longstanding "thorn in the side" of neighbors who have dealt with valet parking, truck deliveries, blocked driveways, noise and other disturbances from previous commercial tenants.

The plans call for two units with separate entrances, said the attorney, John Vetri. There will be no on-site parking, he said.

"Anything is better than a vacant building in your neighborhood," said Bill Pirone, who has lived across the street from the property for 42 years. "I have no objection with what they want to do. …
