Police Looking for Pair Who Held Up Store

A convenience store in the Hi-Crest neighborhood of southeast Topeka was held up before dawn Thursday, and police were in the process of trying to track down the two assailants.

Authorities said the Kwik Shop at 102 S.W. 37th was robbed at gunpoint around 5:10 a.m.

The robbers were described as a pair of black males, one wearing a black Nike hoodie with a white "swoosh" emblem and black sweatpants, the other sporting a blue beanie, shorts, black leggings and a red shirt pulled over his face.

The robbers escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and were last seen running east from the business.

Officers quickly responded to the scene and were scouring the surrounding area in the Hi-Crest area. A K-9 unit also was called to try to locate the robbers.

Around 5:30 a.m., three police cars were parked at the Kwik Shop and officers could be seen inside the establishment talking with store employees. …
