Carrick Man Pleads Guilty to Drowning Raccoons in His Yard

A Carrick man charged with drowning two raccoons in a barrel in his yard pleaded guilty Monday to two summary counts of animal cruelty.

William Killgallon, 68, was sentenced by Magisterial District Judge Eileen M. Conroy to time served. He also must pay court costs.

Mr. Killgallon spent two weeks in the Allegheny County Jail following his arrest in November.

Pittsburgh police charged Mr. Killgallon with two counts of felony aggravated animal cruelty after they said he admitted he baited traps on his Carrick Avenue property and then drowned two raccoons he had caught.

When officers went to his property in October following complaints from neighbors, they found three traps, baited with peanut butter, lunch meat and bread and tomatoes. …
