IT wasn't an easy night for City. The Blues showed plenty of character as they battled to the death to overcome Leicester in the Carabao Cup.

Pep Guardiola made nine changes to the side which thrashed Spurs on Saturday as many fringe players demonstrated what they could offer in the first team.

And City scorer Bernardo Silva was quick to praise the efforts of keeper Claudio Bravo and Ilkay Gundogan for the professionalism they showed during the shoot-out win.

Bravo was the match winner as he dived to his left to deny Riyad Mahrez from 12 yards.

"He's amazing at saving penalties," Bernardo told City TV. "Even this summer when I played against him, Portugal vs Chile, he beat us. This year, fortunately for City, he already saved us twice and it's great to be on his side when we're talking about penalties because he always wins. …
