FC UNITED claimed festive bragging rights against local rivals SALFORD CITY after a 3-2 victory at Broadhurst Park.

Salford took the lead on nine minutes through Richard Allen, but Connor McCarthy levelled things up just before the half-hour mark.

They weren't level for long as Lois Maynard restored the away side's lead just two minutes later. Salford then had Scott Burton sent off on 46 minutes, giving FC United a good chance of turning things around.

Zac Corbett got the equaliser on 74 minutes, before player-manager Tom Greaves got the winner on 81 minutes to send the home fans into delirium.

FC United are now 13th in the National League North table after the win, while Salford's lead at the top is six points.
