Man Expected to Recover after Home Invasion

The victim of a shooting Tuesday night in an apartment just west of downtown Topeka is expected to make a full recovery, and police were searching for two men believed to be responsible.

The incident was reported at 9:48 p.m. in the 400 block of S.W. Taylor.

Topeka police Lt. Andrew Beightel said early Wednesday that the victim reported two men broke into his apartment in the 400 block of S.W. Taylor and attacked him. Police were investigating whether the victim knew the attackers.

One of the assailants was described as a black man in his 40s wearing a black-and-white checkered shirt. There was no description of the second man. Both of the assailants were reported to have fled the area in an unknown direction after the shooting.
